Hello! My name is Kristina Crabtree and I am so excited to be your child's fourth grade teacher! I can't wait to start the new school year and meet you and your child. We are going to have a wonderful year! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you personally, but let me tell you a little bit about myself first. I was born and raised in Winter Park, Florida. After high school I attended The University of Florida, go Gators! At UF, I earned my BA and Masters in Elementary Education. I have a specialization in literacy and am endorsed in talent development and ESL. After college, I moved back to Winter Park with my husband and taught elementary school for 7 years. My experience is primarily in first and fourth grades. My family moved to Charlotte in August of 2013 and I had the opportunity to stay home with my son, Tripp, for a year. I joined the Sharon Community teaching fourth grade in August 2014. I have taught at Sharon for four years and last year welcomed my daughter Savannah to our family. We have a great year ahead of us! We will be traveling to Old Salem this Fall and to Raleigh for an educational, and unforgettable, trip in the Spring. We will learn about North Carolina history, rocks and minerals, electricity and magnetism, animal adaptations, and nutrition. In math, we will experience hands-on learning that allows our knowledge of multiplication, division, fractions, algebra, and geometry to develop. In Language Arts, we will be participating in the Reader's workshop, guided reading, and the Daily 5, where we will learn and apply the strategies of strong readers and identify our individual reading goals.
