Hi parents,
Important Dates
This week in 4th grade:
ELA (English, Language Arts)
We are continuing to learn about poetry and figurative language. We will be learning the different elements of poetry and the types of figurative language that often are present in poems. We will also be reading many different types of poems and working on comprehension strategies using those poems.
Writing
We are working on an opinion writing piece in class. The kids are required to take an opinion on an issue or statement, then support it with evidence. We are working through the writing process with this assignment.
Social Studies
We are wrapping up the unit on the causes of the American Revolution. We will learn about the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, the Intolerable Acts, The First Continental Congress, and the Battle of Lexington and Concord. We will be reading passages about these topics, taking notes on and doing work with these passages, and answering questions related to the passages.
After the unit on rocks and minerals in science we will come back to study the American Revolution including important battles in the country and North Carolina’s role in the Revolution.
Science
We will begin the unit on rocks and minerals after the assessment of cause of the american revolution.
Math
