Hi parents,
Welcome to 4th grade! I enjoyed meeting everyone on Thursday and can’t wait to get to know you better! This is our first official newsletter. I try really hard to squeeze all important info into this one weekly email, so please check it out.
Important Dates
This week in 4th grade:

This week we will be building our classroom community with activities that promote respect and integrity in our classroom. We will review how to write a good paragraph while writing a descriptive paragraph about our summer. We will learn about our classroom economy system and how they can be a strong member. We will be taking a pretest in reading so I am aware of where your children are academically and can help them grow in the most effective way.
Math
We will be creating a math about me cover sheet for our math binder. There will be a math pretest for the 1st Module of Engage New York, which is the math program we use in 4th grade. We will begin the first math lesson on Wednesday. Each day following will be another math lesson. There will be homework coming home every afternoon except Friday or if it is the day of a test.

- Greetings from the Talent Development teachers at Sharon School! We would like to invite you to learn more about the TD program at Sharon by attending our annual DEP (Differentiated Education Plan) meeting for parents of 3rd-5th graders on Friday, September 2 from 8:15-9:00 in the cafeteria. If you are unable to attend the meeting, the presentation slides will be posted on our websites by the following Monday. We hope to see you there!

- Our Classroom Economy
- We have a classroom economy that I use in the classroom. The students apply for a class job and they earn their own salary. With this salary and additional bonuses they can earn they pay their rent and may use it in class auctions. The students can also get “tickets” for undesirable behavior in the classroom or at school. For more info about the class economy check out my website or read this PDF.
