Important Dates
This week in 4th grade:
ELA (English, Language Arts)
Fiction Workshop
We are coming to the end of the realistic fiction unit we have been studying. Your child has been reading a realistic fiction novel. This should be wrapping up in the next couple weeks. They will be doing a culminating activity related to the novel in class.
Social Studies
We will be exploring Colonial Life in early North Carolina.
Writing
We will be working on writing a realistic fiction short story. We will continue drafting our short stories on small moments.
We will have our DLI test on Wednesday, 11/2/2016.
We will also have a vocabulary test on Thursday, 11/3/16.
Math
This week we will be learning how to multiply 2, 3, and 4 digit numbers by a 1 digit number. We will be practicing this using equations and word problems.
Ex. 23x3 234x3 2345x3
We are learning to multiply using different methods including the use of a place value chart, partial product, the box method and the standard algorithm.

- If your child has made a 70 or below on any formal assessments they are able to make corrections. The highest grade they can earn on a corrected test is a 79. I must have any corrections for grades from this quarter by Friday.
