Mrs. Crabtree’s Weekly Newsletter
Week of 2/18/19 Hi Parents, Some of last weeks test were pushed back to this week! I missed so many days with my own kids and I didn’t want to test anyone on something without making sure they were taught the concepts thoroughly. Need to know: Field Trip Online payment Halls of Wonder: This year 4th grade is doing a project with the assistance of Mr. Jennings (computer) and Ms. Mazzotta (media) as our Halls of Wonder project. Halls of Wonder is not until April 25th, so there is plenty of time. The kids chose an animal to focus on that is either endangered or a keynote species. A keynote species is an animal on which animals in an ecosystem largely depend. They will develop a leading question about the animal that focuses on a problem and solution, identifies a cause and effect relationship, or compares and contrasts their animal with another within its same species or environment. More information will be coming, but the majority of the work will be completed at school! Important Dates:
This week in class:
Homework
This week in 4th grade: Literacy: We will learn about non-fiction text features and how they help us navigate a book and comprehend the text. We will also learn about non-fiction text structure. The different ways a non-fiction text can be structured are: description, cause and effect, sequence/chronological, problem and solution, compare and contrast Math: We will begin adding fractions this week. Science: We will learn about food chains, food webs, animal adaptations, and ecosystems. This will kick off the activity the kids will be working on for their Halls of Wonder project. Thanks, Mrs. Crabtree’s Weekly Newsletter
Week of 2/11/19 Hi Parents, Sorry I missed the newsletter last week! Things were crazy at my house...my daughter had a fever of 104.5, pink eye, then fell at her daycare and scraped her gums very badly. None of them happened at the same time, I got about a day back at work between each event. Definitely a stressful time, but fortunately she is fine now! Need to know: Valentine’s Day is a school-wide pajama day!
